Memories, New & Old
excerpted from FunTimes Newsletter, Winter 2009/2010
Holidays are a time when families get together. We decorate our homes and make meals to remind us all that special times are here. Did you know that families come closer and share more during the holiday season than any other time of the year? Why not take a moment to recall your holiday traditions of the past and consider making new traditions together as a family.
Special family outings can become a part of how you celebrate the holidays together. What better time to plan an outing to Omaha Children’s Museum than now, when the air is crisp and the museum is full of fun and activity? Check out our indoor “garden” of gizmos on the second floor, take in one of the many daily showings of lightPlay or just come together as a family to relax, unwind and play together.
If you are like me, nothing means more to you than spending time with your family. As kids, our families are our world, and as adults, families are the world in which we feel safe and comfortable.
I welcome you and your family to Omaha Children’s Museum this holiday season. We’re dedicated to giving children delightful experiences of learning through play.
I wish you happy days this holiday season.
As executive Director of the Omaha Children’s Museum since June of 2002, Lindy Hoyer brings 20 years of passion for reaching out to children through Children’s Museum work and continues striving to inspire young people to play, explore and learn.
During Hoyer’s tenure as Executive Director, Omaha Children’s Museum has seen fantastic growth and accomplishment from hosting blockbuster traveling exhibits to completing a $6.6 million capital campaign and renovation of the museum’s permanent exhibits and seeing attendance soar to over 230,000 annually.
Hoyer participated in the inaugural Noyce Leadership Institute along with 17 science center executives from across the world. She has served on the board of directors for the Association of Children's Museums (ACM) and participates in Qm2 Roundtable for Museum Executives.
